Drama/Gifted Teacher

Why you chose to be an educator?

I chose to be a teacher because I wanted to be a positive role model for my students. When I began my teaching career, too many students were choosing negative role models or role models that they thought they could be exactly like (famous people). I wanted to encourage them to choose everyday people as their role models and see true qualities of the average American. I also wanted to make a difference in children’s lives!

What inspires you?

I am inspired by children’s reactions that say “I get it”, their words that say “I understand now” and their smile that says, “thanks.”
I am especially inspired by previous students that come back as adults and say I remember when…….thank you……

What you would like to see from The Krystal Foundation

I would like to see the Krystal Company offer funding for students to take a trip to see a Broadway play that is close to home. We usually go to Jacksonville or Atlanta, however, a ticket price is often unaffordable for families so students miss the opportunity to go on fieldtrips to see these musicals. We have low numbers sign up for these trips. If we could offer a certain number of students the chance to go through a grant that would be amazing. For example, many in my drama club do not attend this trip because of money.
